Tell us the short story of how you met one another.

We met at a fitness center we both worked at. Definitely not your typical love story. Clint was interested first and I was not! We tried dating once and I broke up with him after about a month. But we continued being friends and about 6 months later I asked him to try again and we’ve been together ever since!

Tell us about the proposal!

Also not your typical proposal! Clint was offered a job across the country in Washington state so he brought up the idea of getting married before he left. We got married on paper July 10th and he was gone by July 23rd. There wasn’t an “official” proposal until after we were already married. At the end of completing our first Spartan Race together, he caught me completely off guard and proposed at the finish line- both of us wet, sweaty and covered in mud. I’ll never forget it, yet I don’t remember anything he said because I was so emotional!

What was your favorite moment on your wedding day?

I was most looking forward to that moment of walking down the aisle to Clint and sharing our written vows to each other. Since we were already married for two years before actually having a wedding, I was really excited about those parts.

Why did you choose White Oak Farms?

White Oak Farms was my first and only choice. I wanted something different and modern and when I found them on Instagram I knew that was where I wanted to get married before we even got married!

In a few words describe your theme or style for your wedding.

We had a travel theme for our wedding! Globes, maps, old luggage, light houses, etc. Since Clint took the job across the country, travel played a huge part in our relationship. I have traveled and visited more places in the last two years than I have in my entire life and during that time, as cliché as it sounds, I found that my “home” was wherever he was.

Is there anything else you think future couples will find interesting / helpful about planning your wedding?

We planned 99% of our wedding apart. The only thing we actually chose together was out catering. Everything else, he took my word for since he was across the country then went on deployment for 7 months with hardly any communication. Hire a wedding planner and then go by their suggested vendors. I couldn’t have made it through planning without Krisy at Southern Sparkle!! We also had our German Shepherd dog in our ceremony! He walked with Clint down the aisle and sat perfectly by his dad during the entire ceremony. We have had Maverick since he was 5 weeks old and there was no question we wanted him there for our wedding!
